D.1. General Information about Program

Movement and Training Sciences Master Program is carried out under the Department of Movement and Training Sciences, Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences. Movement and Training Sciences examine human movement in a multidisciplinary manner systematically and scientifically. In this framework Movement and Training Sciences investigates mechanical characteristics of human movement in different sport branches in terms of Movement Sciences, focuses on development of more economic and efficient technique, prevention of injuries through analysis and applications for performance improvement. In addition, it examines the role of nervous system in controlling movements that require coordination during motor skills. In terms of Training Sciences on the other hand, it focuses on subjects related with the analysis of components affecting performance in different sport branches with proper testing methods, the effect of different training methods on performance, investigation of training content and extend in terms of periodization principles, examination of performance and the effect of different training methods on special groups (children, women, sedentary groups, elite and non-elite athletes disabled etc). Master of Science student can specialize in movement and training sciences subject area. The duration of the program is four semesters. The language of the program is Turkish.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

• To be graduated from Faculty of Sport Sciences, School of Physical Education and Sport, School of Sport Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Faculty of Medicine, Departments of Nutrition and Dietetics , Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematical Engineering and Physics Engineering.
• For the applications from other 4 year undergraduate programs and faculties, the executive board of division of Movement and Training Sciences will decide about.
• Students interested in Master of Science in Movement and Training Sciences should meet the admission requirements of Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences and should be successful in the Master of Science entrance exam.
• To have at least the minimum ALES (Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) and foreign language scores approved by Graduate School of Health Sciences Board and Hacettepe University Senate.
• Students graduated from undergraduate programs other than Sport Sciences should take courses from undergraduate programs of Faculty of Sport Sciences that are determined by the Executive Board of Division of Movement and Training Sciences as a scientific preperation and should be successful in these courses.
• The number of students to enroll in the program is announced by the Graduate School.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Programme Requirements: The students studying in this program are required:

• To take a minimum of 7 courses plus a seminar (at least 21 national course credits and at least 60 ECTS), and 60 ECTS to complete a Master Thesis which make a total of 120 ECTS.
• To succeed in all the courses with a letter grade of at least C1.
• To have a Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.5/4.00 with a minimum of 120 ECTS credits.
• The duration of the program is four semesters, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program in which the student is enrolled are given, regardless of whether the student registers for each semester, except for the period spent in scientific preparation, and the program is completed in a maximum of six semesters.
• There is no internship in this program.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

If the content of the course previously taken in another institution equivalent to the course offered at Hacettepe University, then the student can be exempted from this course with the approval of the Institute of Health Sciences after the evaluation of the course content. Those who have BS/BA in fields other than Sport and Movement Sciences may take a complimentary course.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The objective of the program is to educate scientists that can:

• Follow theoretical and scientific developments in Training and Movement Sciences. 
• Plan a research related with a specific scientific problem in Training and Movement Sciences. 
• Collect data properly, apply proper statistical analysis and write the results section accordingly.
• Discusss and interprete the results according to the current literature. 

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Those who successfully complete Master of Science Program specializing in either Movement Sciences, Training Sciences, Sport Biomechanics and Motor Control is rewarded Masters Degree in Movement and Training Sciences.

Graduates may either continue on their academic studies in national or international universities as PhD candidates or go for a job in private or state foundations where Movement and Sport Science is used or developed.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

MSc program in Movement and Training Sciences is composed of 4 semesters. Pre-requisites for the courses are provided in the course syllabus in the Programme Information Package. To graduate from this programme student has to get at least 120 ECTS. This credit load includes the credits of Seminar course and Master Thesis, which are compulsory.

Assessment methods for each course are defined in the information package prepared by instructors. Information on exams and success criteria can be obtained from Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Exam Regulations.
