Recent advances in the neuromuscular field, following the basic researches dating back to 1990s, is remarkable. New information about the pathogenesis of many diseases has led to ways towards treatment. Especially in Duchenne muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy different drug and genetic treatment strategies are currently being explored; some clinical trials are being conducted and Hacettepe University is one of the centers participating in these international trials.
With these advances in the neuromuscular field, clinical trials are getting more and more important to test these different treatment strategies and multicenter trials are needed for these rare disorders.
