INTERNATİONAL RELATİONS PROGRAMME (WİTHOUT THESİS/İ.Ö.)
Second Cycle Programmes
(Master's Degree)

D.1. General Information about Program

Back

In the graduate programs of the Department of International Relations, on the one hand, the historical, legal and theoretical facts and infrastructure of the field of international relations are examined, and on the other hand, the reflections of this knowledge on practice and the analysis of current events are carried out. In this way, the graduate programs of the Department of International Relations cover a wide range of fields. For this reason, our Master's Program is in high demand. However, it is not possible to meet the intensive applications from many different fields in the Master's Program with Thesis. In addition, due to the intensity of the applications from different fields, the Scientific Preparation application is challenging both the students and the program. In this case, in order to meet the needs of those coming from different fields, it is almost a necessity to open a Second Cycle Non-Thesis Master's Program.

Nowadays, all sectors, especially those working in the public sector, attach great importance to the upgrading of their personnel's specialization degrees; however, they are not very favorable to doing this during working hours. For this reason, interested students turn to programs outside working hours.

In principle, students who aim to pursue an academic career prefer a thesis program. On the other hand, those who aim to rise in the profession and those who want to increase their knowledge on the subject prefer the non-thesis program.

The language of the International Relations Second Cycle Non-Thesis Master's Program will be Turkish.

Back

Since our Master's program in International Relations is a popular program, candidates from many different fields apply to our program (including our own students). Since our department attaches importance to interdisciplinary studies, we strive to meet these demands as much as possible. However, it does not apply any kind of positive or negative discrimination. When a significant number of our students come to our department with a career, it is quite difficult to make a professional profile. However, it is possible to give a profile of the incoming student. Accordingly, students come from public institutions and organizations such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry for EU Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Prime Ministry, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Customs and Trade and TIKA, international organizations such as the United Nations, UNICEF, UNHCR and their sub-units, as well as national and international non-governmental organizations; members of the Turkish Armed Forces, lawyers, engineers, police officers, linguists and writers.
