D.1. General Information about Program

Aim of this programme is to train international performers and educators on art area in addition to developing their theorical knowledge, technical and musical skills with necessary information gained on Master of Music in Guitar Programme. This programme, which is based on modern methods and technique, also aims to closely monitor recent studies in the international arena and contribute to academic knowledge by the studies produced on art and science.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

To be accepted for this program, applicant must have been graduated from a Master of Music in Guitar Programme. Students are accepted to this programme by successing in an exam which contains a repertoire specified by the department, also by taking at least 55 points on YDS, ÃœDS or KPDS or taking equivalent points on a foreign language exam which equivalency is specified by Interuniversity Council.

To graduate from Master of Music in Guitar Programme, students have to achieve at least 24 national credit sum and 240 ECTS credit totally along with succeeding in the courses taken, the Proficiency in Art Exam and the thesis defence exam.

Profile of the programme is to train guitarists who;

· can take part in music institutions,

· have an advanced level of art culture and aesthetic appreciation,

· have knowledge about the relationship between theory and practice,

· can develop and deepen the theoretical knowledge, method and musical skills,

· can perform the pieces belonging to all periods of guitar repertoire to a community at international level,

· internalize the art ethics,

· can follow developments in the field,

· predictive, respectful, participant, open to innovations and developments.

Graduates of Doctor of Music in Guitar Programme can work as an academic or instructor in state or private art institutions, art schools and conservatories. They are able to find work as a soloist or accompanist as well as generating audio and/or audiovisual media recordings.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

Doctor of Music in Guitar Programme contains eight semesters. The first four semesters are course periods. Last semester of the course period contains preperation for proficiency in arts exam. At the end of this semester, students who succeed in the proficiency in arts exam can proceed to the art work level. This level contains four semesters. At the end of this level, under the headline of Defence Exam, students are obligated to present an art work report along with performing a recital as determined in accordance with the instructions of Piano Department. Courses in Programme are Semi-annual and without prequisites. Students gain advanced field knowledge and make studies in this direction. In the fifth, sixth, seventh and eight semesters, students continue their studies intended for art work report and defence exam under the Special Topics headline. In the programme, % 75 of the total 240 ECTS credits are belong to must courses with % 25 elective courses. In order to graduate, students have to achieve 24 national credits and have to take elective courses with a minimum amount of 8 national credits. National credit total of the elective courses are 15, and ECTS credit total is 60.

To graduate from this programme the students have to provide the conditions of the related article of Hacettepe University graduate degrees and examination regulations and achieve 24 national credits and 120 ECTS credit along with succeeding in the courses, thesis defence exam and performance exam.
