Early Childhood Education Program was established in the 1997-98 academic year as a part of Turkish Higher Education Council?s teacher education restructuring efforts. Â Our program aims to train high quality early childhood teachers through its undergraduate program as well as offers master's and doctorate degrees for those who would like to further their education in the field.
Language: Although the language of instruction in our department is Turkish, courses are supported by English books and literature in order to ensure that program graduates use English effectively to increase their command of the field literature.
Duration: The duration of the master's program with thesis is four semesters, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the registered program are given, excluding the time spent in scientific preparation, regardless of whether the student registers for each semester or not, and the program is completed in a maximum of six semesters.
Maximum Duration: The student who cannot successfully complete the credit courses and seminar course included in the education plan at the end of four semesters, who does not have a GPA of at least 2.50 out of 4, who fails the thesis/art work within the maximum period or who does not take the defense exam, will be dismissed.

Students who attend the program must complete 120 ECTS credits in order to graduate. 1 ECTS credit is equal to 30 hours of work load throughout the program.
Students also must complete and successfully defend a master's thesis under the supervision of their academic advisors.
In Turkish higher education institutions, rules and regulations for the recognition of prior formal education is governed by the Council of Higher Education's related by-laws. Limited transfer of credits may be made and a student can transfer to another program if the required conditions are met within the defined rules and regulations. Recognition of non-formal and informal education is at a very early stage and most likely will not be recognized by the Council of Higher Education.

Early Childhood Education Program is a program following the national curriculum which was established according to Turkish Council of Higher Education's Turkish Higher Education Competencies Framework. Moreover, based on their academic and professional interests, students can choose between numerous electives from both the Elementary Education Department and other departments within the university.

In order to ensure graduation requirements, students are required to take at least 14 ECTS credits of elective courses proposed by the department with ECE code.
