D.1. General Information about Program

Back

Physical education and sport master's program with thesis will be carried out by Physical Education and Sport Division in order to contribute to the training of specialists and to conduct research in education in physical education and sport, individual and social developments, physical activity and health. This program seeks to answer questions in a holistic perspective, such as how human movement is regulated and learned, how adaptation mechanisms of organisms to sports and movement work and how these mechanisms interact with environmental, psychological and social factors, in a wide range of physical education and sport, from the simplest physical activity to the regular habitual physical activities, which are necessary to healthy development of human beings and sustainable health and life. Graduates of Physical Education and Sport graduate program are awarded with the title of ?Master of Science?. In this framework, the program will focus on the pedagogical, sociological, psychological and health aspects of physical education and sport, and contribute to the development of a holistic perspective on the solution of problems. In this way, the faculty members who will take part in the program will have the opportunity to conduct research with the principle of "a holistic view on the human movement".

D.4. Provisions for Registration

  • Graduating from any program in the field of Sport Sciences with an undergraduate degree or Graduating from Faculty of Medicine. To be accepted by Academic Board of Physical Education and Sports for applications graduated from at least other 4-year higher education programs.
  • To have at least the minimum Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES-SCIE/EW/VERB) or foreign language scores approved by Graduate School of Health Sciences Board and Hacettepe University Senate. (ALES-Foreign Language Scores Table). 
  • Meeting the application requirements of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Exam Regulations and Graduate School of Health Sciences.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to graduate from the Physical Education and Sport master program; A total of 120 ECTS credits must be completed successfully, with at least seven courses, one seminar course provided that they consist not less than 21 national credits and 60 ECTS credits and 60 ECTS thesis study credits.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Postgraduate courses taken by a student from the national/international higher education institutions in the last five years prior to enrollment in the program, including graduate courses taken as a special student, are transferred to the student's program and entered in the transcript, within the framework of the principles defined in Hacettepe University Postgraduate Education and Exam Regulations, upon the recommendation of the Division and the decision of the Board of Graduate School of Health Sciences. Candidates who have a bachelor's degree in disciplines other than Sport and Movement Sciences may be required to take a complimentary courses.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The main purpose of the Physical Education and Sport Master's program is to train specialist individuals who can plan and carry out studies related to the acquisition of the habit of doing regular physical activities and sports through healthy development and education of the individual in physical education and sport. In this respect, besides taking a very important step towards meeting the needs of the society, it is aimed to provide an educational standard and increase the quality of education. Physical Education and Sport Master's Program with thesis aims to provide students and the public with the highest standards of knowledge, application and research conditions, with the most appropriate handling of problems related to physical education, sport and physical activity, and to develop students' professional judgment and problem solving abilities by instilling the scientific principles of the field, to train experts in the field  at the highest level in terms of service and academic infrastructure. 

The Division of Physical Education and Sport adopts the principle of acquiring and raising awareness of the public, and aims to train individuals who have the quality of national and international leadership in evidence-based education and practice studies, use knowledge, contributes to science, and have the ability to work independently and in cooperation with a scientific entrepreneurial spirit and interdisciplinary approach.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Those who have successfully completed the Physical Education and Sport Master's Program with Thesis are entitled to receive the Master's Degree in physical education and sport.

Graduates can start their careers in public and private sector organizations and continue their academic studies in doctoral programs of both domestic and international educational institutions.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

Physical Education and Sport Master's Program with Thesis includes compulsory and elective courses. A part or all of the elective courses can be optionally taken from within and/or outside the field.
