D.1. General Information about Program

Chemistry department is one of the five departments related to Faculty of Science in Hacettepe University Beytepe campus. The department was founded in 1964 as a related department of Ankara University Medicine and Health Sciencie faculties. The same year, chemistry and chemistry engineering programs were started together. With the foundation of Hacettepe University in 1967, chemistry department took its place in Science and Engineering faculty. In 1971, the department joined to the newly established Chemistry Faculty. In 1983, with the participation of Chemistry Faculty to Engineering faculty, the department was related to engineering faculty and related to Science faculty in 1992. In chemistry department, analtytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, physicalchemistry, organic chemistry, polymer chemistry and theorical chemistry divisions are available. The department continues its education and research activities with 40 academic instructors. Department have 8 student laboratories, 40 research laboratories, a central research laboratory and a computer laboratory.

Hacettepe University Chemistry department allows the graduate students from chemistry deparment and other branches of sciences to achieve master of science degree by conducting advance research studies in every branches of chemistry. By doing master of science in chemistry field, students gain sufficient qualifications to work in pharmacology, textile, medicine, food industries.

Chemistry department allows research opportunities in several different fields by conducting researches in every branches of modern chemistry and inter-dicipliner studies. Chemistry department is consists of seven divisions that are analytical chemistry, biochemistry, physicalchemistry, organic chemistry, polymer chemistry and theorical chemistry. Within the scope of master's degree, students conduct their original research by participating in research projects, contribute to the science by publishing their results as thesis and as articles in international journals.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

Those who have a bachelor's degree in the fields of science and engineering, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and health sciences, and members of the armed forces and law enforcement who have a diploma equivalent to a 4-year bachelor's degree can apply to the CBRN Threats and Management Non-Thesis Master's Program. The student quotas to be admitted to the master's program are recommended by the Academic Board of the Department, the documents required for application, the exam to be held and its date and other conditions are in accordance with the Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations (www.fenbilimleri.hacettepe.edu.tr/26112016yonetmelik.pdf). It is determined and implemented in accordance with the provisions of the article. Student admission to the program and application conditions will be published on the Hacettepe University Institute of Science and Technology website before the start of the academic term. In addition, those who are receiving undergraduate or postgraduate education at a higher education institution or who have completed their education but want to increase their knowledge and application skills in a particular subject are accepted as special students with the appropriate opinions of the course instructor and the head of the department and the approval of the Hacettepe University Institute of Science and Technology Board of Directors. They can continue the relevant courses as a Special Student.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

MSc degree without thesis is composed of lessons with a total of no less than 30 credits and a semester project. According to European Credit Transfer System this program consists of at least 60 credits of lessons and a semester project. Semester project is given in the last semester. Student applies for semester project in the last semester and at the end of the semester presents the project in a written report.

To graduate from the program, the student must succeed in the semester project and must have an academic average of 2.50 over 4.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The goal of the Hacettepe University Master Degree program is to train expert chemists that :

have access to literature and capability of interpretation of knowledge sentient to enviroment and society

to observe and dissolve encountered problems in his/her field with a scientific apporach;

to have theoric and practical information on modern instruments and methods in his/her field.

to present the obtained results as inscribed or oral.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

The graduated students receive expert chemist title. Works as an expert chemist in industrial fields such as pharmacy, food, agricultural, health, military, petroleum, enviroment, automotive, plastic, paint, mining industries. Besides, can work in educational activies as an academician in chemistry related departments in universities.

The students that are succesfully graduated from the program can apply for the doctoral degree in chemistry or chemistry related science programs.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

CBRN Threats and Management Non-Thesis Master's Program consists of a total of 90 ECTS credits that must be taken in 3 semesters. In the master's program, 50 ECTS credits are determined for compulsory courses and 40 ECTS credits for elective courses. Of the 50 ECTS credits allocated for compulsory courses, 30 ECTS credits belong to the Term Project study. Elective courses, which allocate 40 ECTS credits in the master's program, are aimed at skills and competencies in various areas of expertise in CBRN Threats and Management and can be taken every semester within the program. At most half of the elective courses can be chosen from courses from other programs deemed appropriate by the Academic Board of the Department of Chemistry (CBRN Threats and Management) with the approval of the course advisor.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The assesment method for related course was determined by " lecturing programme" in information pack that has been prepared by teaching staff. About exam and course success grades related Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Exam Regulations are applied.

D.16. Graduation Requirements

A non-thesis master's degree is awarded to the student who successfully completes the credit courses and the term project. The non-thesis master's diploma includes the name of the program in the department in which the student is registered, approved by YÖK.
