D.1. General Information about Program

The concept of Data Science has gained importance with the creation of an environment where a lot of data is collected due to the developments in digitalization in recent years and the effort to turn this data into useful information by analyzing it at either micro or macro level. For this reason, the need for data scientists is increasing day by day and new master's programs in data science and analytics are opened in universities. Data science master's program is an applied program created to train individuals with titles such as statistician, data scientist and data analyst with high application power in every business field that uses data analysis, modeling, forecasting tools, learning processes. It aims to train well-equipped graduates who use appropriate methods in the analysis of big data. Data science, which is a combination of disciplines such as statistical analysis, computer science, applied mathematics, artificial intelligence algorithms, and machine learning, is one of the most important concepts of today. Data science non-thesis master's program aims to train data scientists who have developed their skills in the mentioned fields and can produce solutions to current business world problems. The program mainly includes applied statistics, artificial intelligence and computer programming courses.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

Hacettepe University Graduate School of Sciences, Graduate Education and Examination Regulations are made according to the minimum requirements.

At least ALES numeric: 60 points, English: 55 points are required for application. An oral exam is applied to candidates who meet the application requirements and are placed in the rankings.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to have a Master's degree in Data Science without Thesis, the relevant articles of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations and the following conditions must be met.

The non-thesis master's program consists of at least ten courses with a total of thirty local credits and not less than 60 ECTS, and a term project course.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for lateral transfer from the Data Science Department of a higher education institution in Turkey or abroad are evaluated according to the relevant article of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations; Acceptance, credit and grade transfers of students deemed suitable for lateral transfer become final with the Decision of the Board of Directors of the Graduate School of Sciences.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The "Data Science" non-thesis master's program, which was opened as a department under the Hacettepe University Institute of Science and Technology, by the Hacettepe Department of Statistics, aims to enable people from different disciplines who have a certain level of statistical and programming knowledge to achieve the gains described below.

1. To gain the ability to quickly and accurately apply the systems brought by the Statistics science, which is the basis of data science, and the developing technology.

2. To gain the ability to model in the statistical decision process.

3. To create the infrastructure required by data analytics.

4. Gaining the knowledge of data governance from the first acquisition of the data to its final use.

5. To gain the ability to visualize, present, report and statistically interpret the information to be obtained as a result of data analysis and apply it to real problems.

6. To be able to use common package programs in the market in data analytics and to create the ability to code necessary algorithms with other software.

7. To teach the optimization processes operating in the background of data analysis and to gain the ability to develop the applications of related artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduates of the Data Science non-thesis master's program will have the latest technological knowledge and concepts such as data processing, evaluation, analysis and forecasting, and will graduate with the skills and knowledge to apply this information in information technologies, industry and industry, public and private sectors. They will form the required quality technical manpower in both domestic and international platforms.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

Data Science Non-Thesis Master's Program consists of a total of 60 ECTS credits that must be taken in 3 semesters and a term project. After the courses are completed, they will prepare a term project together with an academic advisor in the third semester. All courses in the program are elective.

Regarding the exams and course grades, the relevant articles of the HU Graduate Education Examination Regulations are applied.

D.16. Graduation Requirements

Relevant articles of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations are applied in order to obtain a Data Science Non-Thesis Master's degree. Candidates complete the course period with a total of 60 ECTS and not less than 10 courses.
