The M.A. program of the Classical Turkish Literature is a program of Hacettepe University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. The program of Classical Turkish Literature began in 1975.
The main objective of the program is to educate scientists who have the ability to evaluate literary products written in Divan literature at a high level. In line with this aim, classical literature theory, historical development, types and literary trends, etc. subjects were included in the program. Another objective of the program is to provide the student with the knowledge that will provide the basis for interdisciplinary studies.
The language of the program is Turkish and students are required to have a foreign language to enable them to follow the related literature.Â

1. Required to have undergraduate degree from Turkish Language and Literature, Turkish Language and Literature Teaching, Arabic Language and Literature, Persian Language and Literature departments of universities or related departments of foreign universities approved by YÖK (Council of Higher Education).
2. Required to have at least 55 standart points on verbal point type of Academic Staff and Graduate Education Examination (ALES) that is held by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) or to have a score equal to 55 on internationally accepted GRE and GMAT that is determined by Hacettepe University.
3. Required to have at least 50 in the Foreign Knowledge in Foreign Language Placement Examination (Yabancı Dil Seviye Tespit Sınavı, YDS). Alternatively, applicants are required to submit an equivalent score from other foreign language examinations, held at the national or international level, whose equivalence is approved by ÖSYM.
4. For international students, it is to meet the conditions specified in the ?Principles Regarding Hacettepe University Graduate Education Application and Admission Conditions for Foreign Candidates?.
In the issues not mentioned above will be applied in accordance with the relevant provisions of Hacettepe University Graduate Programme and Exam Regulation.
The student who completes the Classical Turkish Literature Master's Program earns to get the Classical Turkish Literature Master's Degree.
In order to successfully complete the program, it is necessary to complete 120 ECTS, take 24 credits of courses, be successful in these courses, and prepare a master's thesis, which is found successful by the jury.
Graduates who meet the application requirements for the Classical Turkish Literature Master's Program and are successful in the program entrance exam can continue to the program. However, for students who have completed their undergraduate studies in a field other than the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, and for students who have completed their education in the field of Turkish Language and Literature, but who are determined by the interview jury to need to develop or support their academic background, with the recommendation of the interview jury and the approval of the Head of the Department, according to the relevant article of ?Hacettepe University Graduate School of Social Sciences of the Education-Training Regulation?, The Scientific Preparation Program is applied.
In order for the applications to be accepted, there must be a quota for students in the Department, the student must meet the registration admission requirements and has taken at least one semester of graduate education and have received the success grades specified from each of the courses according to the relevant article of the Hacettepe University Institute of Social Sciences Graduate Education Regulations. Â
The aim of the Master's Program in Classical Turkish Literature is to train experts who have the ability to read texts related to their field from original sources, interpret them in the light of different theories and disciplines, and the competence to conduct and conclude a research independently.
 A student who completes the Classical Turkish Literature Master's Program gains the title of "science expert". Graduates can work as teacher teacher in secondary schools, research assistant, Turkish language instructor at universities or as specialist in different fields, both in the private sector and in government institutions.

The ClassicalTurkish Literature Master's Program includes a mixed education process that combines coursework and thesis work. Within the scope of the program, all of the courses except Scientific Research Methods and Publication Ethics and Classical Turkish Literature Seminar are elective. If students want, they can take elective courses from other programs outside their field, provided that they do not exceed two courses and complete the minimum ECTS. Students who are eligible to enroll in the program must complete a total of 120 ECTS throughout their education, take at least 24 national credits (60 ECTS) and have an academic average of at least 2.5 out of 4.00 at the end of the semester.
Assessment and grading criteria (mid terms, homework, final exams, etc.) and examination regulations for each course and their percentages are defined under the title of ?Assessment Methods? in the program's course Information pack. Final exams are carried out on certain dates determined by the university and at certain times and places announced by the department. Students' final semester grades are determined by the instructor offering the course and are based on the students' mid-term and final grades, the coursework they did during the term and their attendance record.Â
Regarding exams and course grades, the relevant articles of the "Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Exam Regulations" are applied.Â
Students must take at least 24 national credits (60 ECTS) courses for graduation, and their overall academic achievement must be at least 2.5 out of 4, complete 120 ECTS together with the thesis work, and the master's thesis they have prepared must be deemed successful by the jury.
