Our department trains curriculum development specialist to plan and carry out formal and informal education in both private and public institutions, and instructors to work at Education Faculties at Curriculum and Instruction Departments and other fields like History, English Language Teaching, etc. The medium of instruction is Turkish.

Applicants must satisfy the declared admission requirements of Hacettepe University Regulations on Graduate Education and Examination and succeed in admission the test.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students are required to successfully complete a total of 240 ECTS;

They are expected to take 90 ECTS credits course, pass a qualifying examination that corresponds to 30 ECTS credits, and complete doctorate dissertation work that corresponds to 120 ECTS. Also, all candidates are required to complete a minimum of 7 courses not less than 21 local credits.

The aim of the doctoral program of our department is to educate the individuals who can apply the basic principles and theories of curriculum and instruction to solve problems at the national and international levels, can produce evidence-based information and can lead to the production of new information and its application to the technology.

Graduates of Department of Curriculum and Instruction find employment in both state and private organizations as education specialist to plan and execute in-service training programs. They also work as instructors at Education Faculties at Curriculum and Instruction Departments and other fields like History, English Language Teaching, etc.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

Our department may offer postdoctoral research opportunities for qualified applicants.

The program consists of 12 courses in total; 4 must courses and 8 elective courses (44% compulsory courses, 56% elective courses). Students are expected to fulfill a total of 240 ECTS (21 local credits, minimum 7 courses, 1 seminar, and 1 dissertation).

In order to graduate from the program students must take 3 elective courses that corresponds 30 ECTS. These elective courses can be found from the elective courses offered at Curriculum and Instruction department or form other departments.

All the courses in the program are taught over a single term. For EPO705 Curriculum Theory and Practice course EPO701 Curriculum Theories course is a prerequisite. For EPO745 Curriculum Evaluation course EPO705 Curriculum Theory and Practice course is a prerequisite. For EPO792 Learning and Teaching Processes II, EPO702 Learning and Teaching Processes I is a prerequisite.
