D.1. General Information about Program

Hacettepe University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing started to conduct master programs in 1968 and doctorate programs in 1972. In 1998, the Institute of Health Sciences graduation program is divided into eight departments of branch. One of these is psychiatric nursing master program.

The education in psychiatric nursing master program takes two years (four semesters) under normal conditions. This program aims, unlike other postgraduate programs, to educate productive, creative and questioning master graduates in the field of mental health and psychiatric nursing who meet  the qualifications of a universal scientist, have a good knowledge of national and international literature and can transfer their literature-based knowledge into education and research in accordance with the requirements of the country. For this purpose, students can benefit from university laboratory and technical facilities to develop knowledge and skills in this area. The language of this program is Turkish.

To have a Nursing Undergraduate degree.

To meet the application requirements of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations and Institute of Health Sciences.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Those who have successfully completed all courses of at least 21 credits included in the program (for a total of 120 ECTS) and have successfully made their thesis defense in front of the jury meet the requirements of competence necessary for graduation.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

Nursing baccalaurate degree graduates are accepted. Students who has begun another psychiatric nursing master program are accepted after they meet minimum requirements of this programme by completing their missing courses.

15 graduted was taken in the study to detemine their views on education of Department of Psychiatric Nursing Master's program. 27% of master graduateds were very satisfied with their education, 60% was satisfied, 13% was partially satisfied. With the education they received , they said that 87% of them could communicate effectively, 60% of them could be confident, 60% of them could access information easily, 73% of them gained problem-solving skills, 87% of them indicated to gain analyzes that the ability to synthesize. 60% of the graduated gave decision fastly, 40% of them indicated to give partially fast decision . Graduated said that 80% of them more likely tended to group working, 7% of tend to work personally. 73% of graduated could produce strategic solutions for problems, 66% of graduated pointed to have the leadership characteristics, 27% of them have the leadership characteristics partly. 93% of them indicated to show ethical behavior, 7% of them indicated to show partially ethical behavior. With studied education, 47% of graduated could able to build a strong corporative relationships.54% of graduated were dominated by health care legislation, 33% were partially dominant, and 13% of them wasn't dominated.73% of graduated were susceptible to general health problems, 27% were partially responsive. 87% of them said to have knowledge and skills of protection and development of mental health at primary, secondary and tertiary level, 13% of them stated that they had partially of these qualifications. Whereas 93% of graduated had skills of planning and implementing heath care of individuals with mental illness, 7% of them had these skills partly. 87% of graduated knew mental illnesses and etiology, were awareness of symptoms and took place in treatment of mental illnesses, 13% partially took place treatment of mental illnesses. 80% of graduated could planning and employing studies in the field of psychiatric nursing for the problems seen. 20% partially employ that. 60% of graduated said to able to practice the results of scientific research, 27% partly practiced and 13% of couldn't practice that studies. 40% of them could transfer scientific study to article and published it and presented that in a national or international journal. By 80% of graduate, Gained expert knowledge could be evaluate critical approach and transfer in application. Our graduated students are studying in private or state hospitals, family care centers, community mental health services.

Giving information to students about elective courses within and outside section during the program.

Required courses give students basic information about the program, while the elective courses, students may want to turn to the future of specific areas of knowledge, skills and competencies focuses on teaching. Competencies focuses on teaching.70% of intra-departmental elective courses and 30% of non-departmental elective courses can be taken by the students during the teaching program
