D.1. General Information about Program

 Education is performed at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Medical Microbiology Department classrooms and laboratories. Language of education is Turkish and foreign students may apply the programme.

The aim of microbiology doctorate programme is to obtain graduates compatible to international standards in microbiology, having general information and understanding on microbiology and detailed knowledge on at least one field of microbiology and experience on scientific research methods.

 To be a graduate of Medical Faculty or to have a master?s degree on Medical (with the condition of Scientific Preparation)

To be a graduate from a master?s programme accepted by the Medical Microbiology Department Academic Faculty

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

ECTS credits of Microbiology Doctorate Programme is 240. After the students successfully complete courses (a total of 90 ECTS credits) in three semesters, they take a 30 ECTS credit Preparation for Doctorate Proficiency Exam course during the fourth semester. Students with an average grade of at least at least 3 out of 4.00 and successfully passed the proficiency exam, have to prepare a thesis on a subject chosen with their consultants at the remaining time and must defend this doctoral thesis to a jury. A doctorate thesis is prepared in four semesters, and brings 120 ECTS credits. Students are given a diploma of doctorate after they successfully defended their thesis to the jury and fulfilled requirements of graduation of Hacettepe University, Institute of the Health Sciences.

 The aim of microbiology doctorate programme is to obtain graduates compatible to international standards in microbiology, having general information and understanding on microbiology and detailed knowledge on at least one field of microbiology and experience on scientific research methods.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

 Graduates may work at different companies involved in drug production, drug research, diagnostic product sales and sterilization_dysinfection. In addition, they might have opportunities to to continue their careers at universities.

The programme consists of compulsary courses (36 ECTS), elective courses (54 ECTS), Preparation for Doctorate Proficiency Exam course (30 ECTS), a proficiency exam and doctorate thesis (120 ECTS). Elective courses may be selected from other programmes of the Institute of Health Sciences.
