D.1. General Information about Program

Critical care units are units where life-threatening complex diseases are treated and cared by high-level healthcare professionals work with high-tech equipment to support treatment.  Critical care nurses working in these units have many duties and responsibilities, ranging from the implementation and evaluation of life-supporting, complex and sophisticated medical treatment to the highest level of patient care and follow-up. In order to fulfill these duties and responsibilities, to provide care for complex problems in a complex medical environment, it is necessary critical care nurses? to have knowledge, skills and practices above the knowledge, skills and practices acquired in nursing undergraduate education.

This program aims to train nurses specified in diagnosing patients with complex and life-threatening problems in the critical care environment, monitoring patients continuously, implementing high-quality advanced intensive care and treatment interventions, establish a therapeutic relationship with patients and their relatives, and implementing in protective, curative and rehabilitative interventions. The program will be carried out by the Department of Internal Medicine Nursing, which has an academic and scientific background in the internal medicine nursing since 1968.

In order to graduate from the Critical Care Nursing non-thesis master program; a total of 90 ECTS credits must be completed successfully through elective and must courses (at least 10 courses) and graduation project.

Students are admitted under the valid conditions defined in the Hacettepe University Postgraduate Education and Exam Regulations.

The main purpose of the program is to train specialist nurses who can provide systematic and holistic nursing care to critical patients in the intensive care environment. 

This program aims to train nurses specified in diagnosing patients with complex and life-threatening problems in the critical care environment, monitoring patients continuously, implementing high-quality advanced intensive care and treatment interventions, establish a therapeutic relationship with patients and their relatives, and implementing in protective, curative and rehabilitative interventions.

Those who have successfully completed the Critical Care Nursing Non-Thesis Master's Program are entitled to receive the Master's Degree.

Graduates can work in public and private sector?s intensive care units, and perform more effective care with current and scientific principles they have acquired.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

Critical Care Nursing Non-Thesis Master's Program includes theoretical and practical compulsory and elective courses. A part or all of the elective courses can be optionally taken from within and/or outside the field.

The theoretical courses in the program provide the students with the basic knowledge for the field since the first semester, practical courses aim to transform the knowledge, which was learned, into skills and competencies. All of the courses in the program are semester courses.

Elective courses consist of in / out field courses and start from the first semester of education.
