D.1. General Information about Program

Nursing Services Administration Master Degree Program was offered for the first time in Turkey at our university in 1982. Application Requirements are having BS in nursing, two years work experience in nursing and compliance to conditions stipulated by the ?Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences, Graduate Education-Teaching Regulation?. The duration of program is two years (four semesters).

The nursing services administration program is designed to prepare nurses to function as managers in primary, secondary and tertiary settings of health care facilities; to have influence in improving productivity and quality health care, as well as to assume leadership and teaching roles in clinical settings and to serve as a foundation for   evidence based practice and research. Additionally, the program aims the student to prepare a report on a nursing management issue such as organizational behaviors, clinical practices, quality and measurement of care, risk management, problem solving, decision making, human resources management etc. and to prepare a thesis according to the Hacettepe University Health Science Institute Thesis writing guide.

This program requires 21 national credits (120 ECTS). Program is student centered and includes courses related to nursing services administration and clinical practice and thesis. Program prepares nurse experts for the positions such as hospital nurse manager, quality coordinator, and manager of financial department, manager of medical companies as well as provides a path for faculty positions.

 Having a bachelor's degree in nursing.

To meet the application requirements of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations and Institute of Health Sciences.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

The nursing services administration program aims to train nurse managers in primary, secondary and tertiary settings of health care facilities to have influence in improving productivity and quality health care; nurse educators who will teach nursing services management courses at universities, and researchers and leaders who will conduct evidence based practice research.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

Nursing Services Administration Master Program comprises a 2 year (four semesters) period and conducted by the faculty members of Nursing Management Department. The student has to take 21 national credits (120 ECTS Credits) to graduate from this program. Beside taking mandatory courses of program the student has to choose selective courses from other programs to complete 21 national credits (120 ECTS). Selective courses' credits constitute 25% of program's total credits.
