D.1. General Information about Program

Back

The Opera Department Proficiency in Art Degree Programme of Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory started in spring semester 2010 and was incorporated in the Institute of Fine Arts in fall 2012.

The aim of this programme is to educate opera artists, instructors and academics who are able to work on opera stages and educative institution and have top level knowledge and skills in the field of acting techniques and music.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

For graduation from the Opera Master Degree Programme students must obtain 21 national credits and a total of 240 ACTS. Students have to pass courses and thesis exam successfully in order to graduate from the Opera Proficiency in Art Degree Programme.

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students with licence degree of a State Conservatory Opera Department or equivalent institution may apply for admission to the Opera Department Proficiency in Art Degree Programme. Admission is given after passing a special entrance exam.

Foreign language and Ales exam points are not necessary. A minimum of 55 point of ÃœDS or another equivalent foreign language exam are prerequisite.

The Opera Department programme of Proficiency in Arts aims to educate opera artists who are able to work on opera stages, educational and academic institutions. Graduates are equipped with top level voice and acting techniques, knowledge and skills in music and are educated in arts, culture and aesthetics. They are open minded towards new developments and changes and are willing to contribute and participate actively to society.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduates may work at state and private opera stages, choirs and educational music institutions which do not require pedagogical formation, give solo or ensemble concerts and recitals and make auditory and/or auditory-visual media recordings.

Examples: State Opera and Ballet Houses, Polyphonic State Choir of the Ministry of Culture, TRT Polyphonic Choir, State Conservatories.

D.14. Profile of the Programme

The Proficiency in Arts Degree Programme comprises four years (eight semesters). The first four semesters are course semesters; the last four semesters are thesis semesters. According to Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory Opera Department regulations students are obliged to give a graduation recital open to public.

During course semesters students work on top level field knowledge. During thesis semesters students work on “specific topics” and are obliged to prepare a final exam recital.

The ratio of mandatory courses' and elective courses' total of 240 ECTS is 180 to 60. Students must obtain a minimum 21 national credits.

1 ECTS is equivalten to a workload of 30.

Beside graduation requirements give above students must obtain must collect at least 24 National Credits and a total of 240 ECTS. Students who fulfil all requirements of courses, thesis and final recital exam open to public are admitted for graduation of the Opera Department Proficiency in Arts Degree Programme.
