D.1. General Information about Program


Preliminaries of the division of ballet, ballet danc─▒ng department was established in 1947, with the cooperation between the Turkish Government and the British Government acted with the Istanbul Ye┼čilk├Ây Ballet School which merged with the Ankara State Conservatory in 1950.

The founder and the administrator of the school was Ninette de Valois, the founder of the British Royal Ballet School and Community Dame. Between the years of 1950 -1974 school was along the lines of the work of the British school. Since 1975 the Russian Vaganova school of thought was chosen as the continuing education system.

Starting with Primary 5th grade, ballet education process includes undergraduate degree.

With the Ballet Arts degree programmes conducted by Department; students closely follow the work in the international arena, which has in the field of classical ballet and contemporary dance performer of contemporary methods and techniques for the need of institutions, provides education and contribute to the accumulation of social culture through the staging of various plays.

In order to be accepted to this programme, student must hold Master of Art Ballet Dancing Deaprtment or an equivalent degree.For international students, Hacettepe University, internaitonal student guidelines&rules are applicable

D.5. Qualification Requirements and Regulations


In order to be a graduate of Proficiency in Art Programme, including mandatory and elective courses, a national credit total of 29, is required to obtain where as ECTS credits needed is a total of 240.

For the Recognition of prior education, Hacettepe University, Ph.D. Degree Education and Examination Regulations are applicable.(

D.7. Goals and Objectives


Dept. Ballet, Ballet Arts Art Programme aims;

Through the analysis of the Vaganova Ballet classical ballet education system, provide the academic staff that country needs in the field of ballet education, qualified staff to instruct classical ballet, pas deux, character repertoiree of dances courses, academic staff, open to innovations and developments in the field of dance and ballet, aware of their responsibilities towards the society.

As well as academic instructors for classical ballet and ballet communities, elimination of the need for repetitors are also among the objectives of this programme.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples


Our graduates, acquire qualifications to carry out a training programme in the field of pas de deux, Character Dances as well as the Vaganova classical ballet methods.They are equipped with tools to serve programmes and educational institutions with the goal of educating professional ballet Dancers.To compansate for possible insufficiencies of pracitcal applications, students follow and obsevre the undergraduate classical balet courses of the department to acquire practical experiences on the job.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading


Exams of vocational courses exams are graded by the performance in front of jury commission. Applied assesment and evaluation methods are defined in the information package "Courses Instruction Plan" which is prepared by the instructor of the course. For grading policies, please refer to the Hacettepe University Education and Examination Regulations for Graduate Studies.
