This program is administered by the Graduate School of Science and Engineering. The language of instruction of the program is English.

In the program, theoretical and applied research and development are carried out in the fields of thermal-fluid systems and energy, dynamics, control and mechatronics, solid mechanics and design, materials and manufacturing.

Applications, admissions, and enrollments follow the rules and provisions of ‘'Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Exams Regulations''. Applicants from national/international universities with M.S degrees (with thesis) in Mechanical, Production/Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Aerospace and Automotive Engineering or applicants with M.S. degrees (with thesis) whose qualifications are approved by the Departmental Academic Commitee may apply for addmission. All applicants must have obtained the required scores from ALES or GRE examinations. All applicants must have English language proficiency.

The aim of the program is to educate mechanical engineers who are equipped with world-class research, development and design skills in various areas of Mechanical Engineering and pioneer technological development compatible with national needs, and contribute to the national and international mechanical engineering science and technology through knowledge dissemination.

During the PhD qualifying exam semester, the students register for MMÜ 797 Preparation for the Ph.D. Qualifying Exam course. The students whose theses proposals are approved by the Graduate School of Science and Engineering register for MMÜ 700 Special Topics course.

D.15. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The procedure of assessment and evaluation for each course is defined in the course information package/syllabus which is prepared by the corresponding faculty members. Examinations and grading follow the relavant articles of ‘'Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Exams Regulations''.

D.16. Graduation Requirements

Requirements for the PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering are:

- Successful completion (at least a B2 grade) of at least 8 courses and a seminar course adding up a total of at least 90 ECTS (24 national credits),

- A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0,

- Succesfull completion of the doctoral qualifying exam,

- Successful completion and defense of a thesis work of 120 ECTS credits before a jury.
