The goal of Chemistry Teaching Doctoral Programme is to raise doctors of science who can follow up to date national and international literature on scientific issues in the area of chemistry education, who can offer solutions to problems encountered in chemistry education due to their research, inquiry, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, who are informed of teaching methods and techniques valid throughout the world and who have internalised life-long learning principle.
The doctoral proramme is coposed of 240 ECTS credts in total-120 credits of which are in courses and 120 credits of which are during thesis study. Students take courses in the first four semesters, and they write their thesis in the second four semesters. The couse-taking semesters are composed of inital three semestes with courses of 90 ECS credits and the final fourth semester with a course on preparation for doctoral proficency having 30 ECTS credits.

The programme will accept the graduates of preferably Master's Degree of Mathematics and Physical Sciences Education and Chemistry Education Departments of Education Faculties, graduates of Master's Degree of Chemistry Departments of the Faculties of Sciences and the graduates of Master's Degee of Chemical Engineering Departments of Engineering Faculties.
The students wishing to join the programme are expected to have knowledge of a foreign language adequate to follow and comprehed interational literature even though the medium of instruction is Turkish.
Students will be subject to provisions of educational-instructional and examination regulation of Hacettepe University Educational Sciences Institute on applying for the programme.
The doctoral programme is composed of 240 ECTS credits in total-120 credits of which are in courses and 120 credits of which are during the thesis study. Students take courses in the first four semesters, and they write their thesis in the second four semesters. The course-taking semesters are composed of initial three semesters with courses of 90 ECTS credits and the final fourth semester with a course on preparation for doctoral proficiency having 30 ECTS credits. Studets have to take only one of the compulsory seminar courses available in bthe programme on the basis of the views of the department head or of their advisor. All the courses except for the seminar are electives and students can take them according to their areas of interest and in accordance with their advisors' view inside and outside the university to the extent that the regulation (ebe.hacettepe.edu.tr/yonetmelikler.html) permits them.
The graduates of the Masters' Programme of the Chemistry Departments of the Faculties of Sciences and the graduates of the Masters' Programme of the Chemical Engineering Departments of Engineering Faculties will be exposed to a scientific preparation programme. The courses that the students who have passed the entrance examinaton for the programme are to take will be determined by the decisions made by the board of science. Students passing the compulsory courses and attaining academic average of 3.00 at the minimum can take doctoral proficiency exam. Students who have passed doctoral proficiency exam prepare a thesis under the supervision of their advisor. Students are subject to the provisions of Hacettepe University Post-graduate educational-instructional and examination regulation (ebe.hacettepe.edu.tr/yonetmelikler.html) in thesis defence examination and in other educational and instructional issues.
Post-graduate courses the students took in the last five years including the ones taken as private students in a post-graduate programme in Turkey and abroad before registering in the institute can be transferred to the programme to which they are registered on the basis of the advisor's view, with the recommendation of the board of the department and decision of the board of directors of the institute. However, the amount exceeding two thirds of the total credits in the programme students have been registered is not taken into consideration in trasferring the credits of courses taken as private students (ebe.hacettpe.edu.tr/yonetmelikler.html).

Students who have pased the 120 ECTS credit courses and the 120 ECTS credit thesis study and who have defended their thesis in front of the jury are granted a doctorate diploma.
