Communication Sciences Master of Art Program started in July 2006, accepting its first graduate students.
The courses of the program are prepared in order to focus on the discussion of the contemporary communication issues at graduate level in accordance with the graduate programs of the European and international universities. The courses of the program aim to provide students with the knowledge that enables them to discuss current issues and to develop solutions to these issues. The design of the program is suitable for regular updates according to the social and technological changes. Â Considered as a whole, the program combines the examination of the theory and practice in communication sciences and encourages the usage of the theoretical knowledge through applications. The program supports an interdisciplinary approach and is in dialogue with different fields of social sciences such as sociology, history, political sciences, philosophy, art, economics, anthropology, psychology, philology and law.

1.     Applicants who apply to the program must have completed a four-year Bachelor?s Degree with an average of at least 2.80 (two point eighty) over 4.00 (four).
2.     Applicants are required to score at least 55 standard points from either one of the quantitative or verbal or equal weight categories of the Academic Staff and Graduate Education Examination (Akademik Personel ve Lisansüstü EÄŸitimine GiriÅŸ Sınavı, ALES) organized by Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (Ölçme, Seçme ve YerleÅŸtirme Merkezi, ÖSYM). Alternatively, applicants are required to submit an equivalent score, determined by the Hacettepe University Senate, in the internationally recognized GRE and GMAT examinations.Â
3. Applicants are required to score at least 60 in the Foreign Knowledge in Foreign Language Placement Examination (Yabancı Dil Seviye Tespit Sınavı, YDS). Alternatively, applicants are required to submit an equivalent score from other foreign language examinations, held at the national or international level, whose equivalence is approved by ÖSYM.
4. International students' applications are accepted in line within "Hacettepe University Graduate Programme and Exam Regulation" in Official Gazette (29 November 2016, No:29900).
5. Those conditions, which are not included below, are applied in accordance with the related provisions of the Hacettepe University Graduate Education, Instruction and Examination Regulations (Hacettepe Üniversitesi Lisansüst Eğitim, Öğretim ve Sınav Yönetmeliği).
Special Requirements for the Admission of Graduate Programme of Communication Sciences

to Hacettepe University Faculty of Communication, Department of Communication Sciences with the above documents.
In order to complete the Master's Program in Communication Sciences, it is necessary to take a total of 24 ECTS of compulsory courses (1 seminar, 1 method and 1 theory course) and 36 ECTS of elective courses for a total of 60 ECTS credits, and 60 ECTS must be obtained by completing the thesis study. The minimum ECTS required to graduate from the program upon completion of the course and thesis process is 120.
The student is expected to meet the admission terms in order to transfer to the Communication Sciences M.A. program at Hacettepe University. For other issues, the related items of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Testing Legislation are effectual.

The graduates who complete this program, can work as instructors in faculties of communication after continuing their education in PhD degree as well as working in positions such as communication expert, communication consultant and print consultant in the media sector and state institutions.

Students are supposed to take ILT 680 Method, Methodology And Ethics In Social Sciences and ILT 610 Theories of Communication courses and one seminar course within Communication Sciences program. All the other courses in the program are elective.Â
The methods of evaluation and assesment for each course are defined in “Course Structure Plan” in the Information Package prepared by the course instructor/s. For the exams and grades, related items of the Hacettepe University Graduate Education and Testing Legislation are applied.

In order to complete M.A. of Communication Sciences Program it is required to take 24 ECTS credit courses in total (1 seminar, 1 method, and 1 theory course), and to submit and defend a successful master's thesis (60 ECTS). A minimum of 120 ECTS course credit hours is required at the end of these studies together with the elective courses.
