Master of Science with Thesis in Clinical Neurological and Psychiatric Sciences "program will be held by Hacettepe University Institute of Neurological Sciences and Psychiatry, Clinical Neurological Sciences and Psychiatry Department. Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Pediatric Neurology, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Opthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology and Radiology specialists will benefit from the program.
Similar programs, which have been institutionalized abroad for many years under the name of "Fellowship'', are given over clinical specialty training in neurological sciences. The proposed program is designed to provide academically oriented interdisciplinary training aimed at providing post-specialist scientific formation that is needed in clinical branches and not covered by subspecialty education. It aims to develop knowledge and skills in areas that require specialized and advanced education in clinical and applied basic sciences.  Programs do not aim to provide a subspeciality (for example: gastroenterology) diploma. It accepts candidates who have already specialized in aferomentioned medical disciplines and aims to improve their academic progress in the specialized fields of Neurological and Psychiatric Sciences. The rapid developments in Neurological and Psychiatric Sciences have led to the emergence of a demand for the education of specialists who will closely follow and apply these innovations. These services are currently being carried out by the faculty members, who were trained abroad, but they can?t respond to the needs of our country because they are not in sufficient numbers.
Programs that are planned to be opened are on the disciplines, which require the use of rapidly developing new and interdisciplinary approaches in diagnosis and treatment, such as Neurovascular Diseases, Behavioural Neurology, Movement Disorders, Neuroimmunology, Neuromuscular Diseases, Clinical Neuroelectrophysiology and Psychiatry (Consultation-Â Liaison). The interdisciplinary education experience and the high number of faculty members present in our institute offer an ideal infrastructure for the creation of post-specialization programs that cover topics that require collaboration of different disciplines.
