Course objectiveThis course aims to introduce students to sustainability concept, sustainable development goals and environmental sustainability associated with modelling and solution techniques. 
Learning outcomes
  1. Average student; is able to define sustainability and describe the environmental, economic, and social aspects of the triple bottom line.
  2. is able to describe the profound impact humans have had on the ecosphere, and explain the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
  3. is able describe the global inequities of sustainability decision making, and the intersection of sustainability with global goals.
  4. is able to understand the economic factors of sustainability and the role of government in providing public goods and market incentives for the expansion of sustainability initiatives.
  5. is able to differentiate between renewable and nonrenewable energy sources, and identify the key components of the green economy.
Course ContentBasic sustainability theory - triple bottom line, Climate Change, Energy and fossil fuel consumption, Carbon Footprinting, Life Cycle Assessment, Sustainability traps, Policies for Sustainability.
