Course objectiveThe aim of this course is to provide an immediate perception of the unprocessed and pure production materials of all kind of art and in particular the art of sculpture. To learn the basic concepts of art through nature itself, to provide the practice of transforming nature into art objects. 
Learning outcomes
  1. Students who complete this course; .
  2. Create artistic works with materials in nature.
  3. Learn to relate the language of art with the grammar of nature.
  4. Establish dialogue between art and nature with the consciousness that will form by having the knowledge of nature.
  5. Superimpose nature on traditional thinking spaces and production strategies.
  6. Gain experience of interdisciplinary work.
  7. Add nature to the concept of space within environmental art
Course ContentReplacing traditional practice of art education in the studio with a practice in nature
Providing artistic production with materials of nature
Exploring the plastic language of art in the elements of nature
Extending the concept of space from inside to outside with the coordinates of nature
Completion of the work of art with materials collected from nature by composing with part-whole relationship

Week 1Overview of concepts related to nature such as environment, land, ecology.
Week 2Creation of works with materials in their natural and raw state rather than sculpt them in studios.
Week 3Detecting and collecting natural materials on an expedition around Beytepe Campus and bringing the necessary materials to the workshop.
Week 4Creating projects with decided and collected materials
Week 5Creating projects with decided and collected materials
Week 61st Midterm: Evaluation of created projects
Week 7An site in the campus will be chosen for every student that can be manipulated by each of them.
Week 8Drawings, photographs and videos will be produced at the chosen site and the project will be created.
Week 9Students will apply their own projects at the chosen site.
Week 10Projects will continue to be implemented
Week 112nd Midterm: Evaluation of finished projects
Week 12Readings on nature and body relation, contemporary examples will be examined
Week 13Project proposals will be discussed through body-nature relationship
Week 14Proposed Projects to be implemented
Week 15Project implementation will be completed
Week 16Finals
