Course objectiveThe aim of the course is to introduce to the students the fundamental theories on first and second language acquisition and to make them be aware of and evaluate the research carried out on first and second language acquisition. 
Learning outcomes
  1. By the end of the course the students will be able to; -Develop an understanding on first and second language acquisition and analyze the phenomanon of langage acquisition through different scientific perspectives (i,e. As a linguistic, cognitive, social and individual process).
  2. - develop an insight on the acquisition of sign languages as mother tongues and know thr relevant phases and processes.
  3. - evaluate the research in the literature with a critical perspective
Course ContentThe course covers the comparative analysis of the theories concerning first and second language acquisition. It includes issues as phases of language acquisition and development. Moreover, these issues will also be taken into consideration in the context of sign languages.
