Course objectiveThe aim of the course is to acquaint the students with former and current approaches and methods in language teaching, to provide classroom practice in language teaching and to introduce various theories and perspectives of sign language teaching through relevant literature in the field. 
Learning outcomes
  1. By the end of the course, the students will be able to: - define and explain fundamental approaches, techniques, methods and terminology in the field of language teaching,
  2. - make a comparative critical evaluation of different approaches,, methods and techniques,
  3. - be familiar with the academic literature in the field of sign language teaching,
  4. - gain a classroom experience in the application of some of the relavant methods and techniques
Course Content This course covers basic and fundamental issues, approaches, techniques and methods of language teaching as well as contemporary methods and techniques in teaching sign languages.

1. Will gain knowledge about the basic concepts of linguistics and linguistic features of sign languages. X   
2. Will survey the literature on interdisciplinary areas pertaining to sign linguistics and understand the interaction of sign linguistics with fields such as sociology, translation sciences and communication sciences.    X
