Course objectiveThe main objective of this course is to introduce the general and regional characteristics of Turkish folk dances in respect of the culture and dance relationship; to examine the structural, functional, performative and contextual features of turkish folk dances in the context of cultural variables and conditions and explain the fundamental approaches and methods of Turkish folk dance researches.  
Learning outcomes
  1. ? At the end of this lecture students will be able to; ? Comprehend the multidimensional relationship between Turkish folk dances and culture ? Define and explain the general and regional features of Turkish folk dances ? Comprehend the new approaches on folk dance researches ? Examine the relationship between Folk dance and group identity ? Do theoretical analysis on musical behavior and its symbolic expressions
