Course objectiveStudents learn the speech, voice and swallowing disorders according to head and neck cancers; they gain the ability of assessing patients and choosing appropriate personally-based speech and language therapy programme and aplly the programme. 
Learning outcomes
  1. Gains the core information regarding to head and neck cancer, its extension and basic treatment strategies Knows the subtypes of head and neck cancer according to the cancer location; knows the potential effects on speech, voice, swallowing and respiration functions Learns subtypes of partial laryngectomy and total laryngectomy Learns the speech evaluation after mandibulectomy, glossectomy and palatotectomy. Evaluates the speech and swallowing functions after partial laryngectomy surgeries
  2. Learns the appropriate patient selection criterias after total laryngectomy surgery for speech and utilizes the appopriate rehabilitaton approach Performs the compensatory and rehabilitative management strategies for swallowing function
Course ContentChoosing the appropriate evaluation methods for the speech,voice and swallowing functions after various head and neck cancers and preparing and utilizing the appropriate rehabilitative therapy.
