Course objectiveThis course is designed to demonstrate the principles of counseling/interviewing skills for individuals with communication disorders and their families throughout lifespan  
Learning outcomes
  1. 1. Conduct the three basic types of interviews, a) information-gathering interviews; b) information-giving interviews; and c) counseling interviews 2. Discuss major models of counseling of coomunication disorders. 3. To demonstrate appropriate interviewing techniques during the assessment and treatment of persons with communication disorders.
  2. 4. Facilitate the individual's activities and participation by assisting the person to increase autonomy, self-direction, and responsibility for acquiring and utilizing new skills and strategies that are related to their goals to communicate more effectively.
