Course objectiveTo introduce the descriptive and inferential statistics, and univariate statistical models, used commonly in educational researches in teaching foreign language.
Learning outcomes
  1. At the end of the course the student: Understands the types of data and variables. Determines descriptive statistical techniques according to types of variables.
  2. Reports and interprets the data as form of frequency tables and graphics. Explains the distribution features of data and/or variables.
  3. Solves the probability problems. Calculates the confidence interval of statistics.
  4. Buildings and analyzes the statistical hypotheses. Investigates the relation between two continuous variables.
  5. Analyzes and interprets the one-way and two-way analysis.
  6. Buildings and analyzes the simple linear regression models.
  7. Investigates the associations in data, presented in contingency tables.
  8. Buildings and analyzes the logistic regression models.
Course ContentBasic concepts, classification of data and variable types, descriptive statistics for different types of data, probability and probability distributions, sampling theory and parameter estimation, one and two sampling hypothesis testing, statistical models, regression and correlation analysis, and chi-square analysis analysis.
