Course objectiveThis course aims to provide students with a basis for further study in the development of modern science and technology starting from the Renaissance up to the present. 
Learning outcomes
  1. recognizes the concepts such as Renaissance, the enlightenment and the Industrial revolution
  2. analyses the development of modern science from Renaissance up the present.
  3. discusses the factors leading to the scientific development
  4. evaluates the impact of science and technology at the national and International level
  5. recognizes the positive relationship between science and technology and economic development.
  6. organizes or participates events which popularizes the science and spreads scientific thinking in the society in which he or she lives
Course ContentPhases of development of science and technology from Renaissance up the present; the industrial revolution and the steam engine; impact of the industrial revolution on the scientific development; acceleration of technological productions; the tightening relationship between science and technology; the process of science and technology becoming inseparable part of the daily life; the advances and the impact of science and technology in human life in the 20th Century.
