Course objectiveTo introduce the quality, content and the global status of Turkish studies; to introduce the references used in Turkish studies, to try the methods of knowledge production based on these references; to compare the current knowledge produced in the world and Turkey with sources of Turkish studies; to categorize Turkish studies chronologically and analytically.  
Learning outcomes
  1. Understand the importance of interdisciplinary studies in Turkish studies,
  2. Get familiar with main resources on Turkish language
  3. Recognize and evaluate the main resources on Turkish history,
  4. Get familiar with the main resources on Turkish art,
  5. Recognize the main recourses on Turkish culture,
  6. Know the ways and rules of conducting a scientific study,
  7. Learn to compare the scientific studies by means of references,
  8. Know how to evaluate the electronic recourses on Turkish language.
Course ContentThe basic problems in Turkish studies: language, history, geography, art and archaeology. The basic difficulties in the field of Turkish studies: similarities and differences in methodology and approaches. Electronic data bases related to Turkish studies. Categorization and analysis of electronic data. Critical approaches to recent studies in the field.
