Course objectiveThe objective of this course is to provide insight on how to use demography from the public health perspective; main issues in population health and basic concepts; basic characteristics of demography; population growth in Turkey and World; factors effecting the health status in the developing countries; inequalities in health and how they vary between countries; determinants of health and measurement; comparison of countries according to economic development and health level.  
Learning outcomes
  1. At the end of this course, student will be able to: tell how to use demography from the public health perspective,
  2. know meaning of demography, its scope in terms of public health,
  3. tell main issues in population health and basic concepts,
  4. interpret population growth in Turkey and World,
  5. describe health and discuss factors effecting health in developing countries
  6. discuss inequalities in health and how they vary between countries and its importance in terms of public health, interpret the determinants of health, measures of inequalities and discuss in terms policies,
  7. know economic development, demographic transition and health relation, know the relation between fertility, mortality and other demographic factors and health in developing countries and interpret in terms of public health,
  8. interpret the relation between risky groups, sex and health for public health policies, know relation between economic development and its indicators and use this knowledge for developing public health policies, compare countries according to economic development and health level.
