Course objectiveTo enable students to recognize Ottoman Turkish and the Ottoman alphabet, to identify the basic rules of the Ottoman Turkish, to apply the rules of Turkish to the texts under study and to read the 20th century Ottoman texts correctly. 
Learning outcomes
  1. By the end of the course, students
  2. -learn the Ottoman alphabet,
  3. -read the Ottoman texts,
  4. -know the basic rules of Ottoman Turkish,
  5. -transcribe the Ottoman texts written in the 20th Century, and
  6. -comprehend the primary sources written Ancient Alphabet.
Course ContentThe Ottoman Turkish (Arabic) script, basic rules of Ottoman Turkish, reading and interpretation of Ottoman Turkish texts.
