Course objectiveThe aim of this course is to study contemporary linguistic studies and trends and to get familiar with the academic genre and structures of scientific articles in order to develop academic writing and critical evaluation skills.  
Learning outcomes
  1. At the end of the semester the students will:
  2. Review the basic concepts and theories in linguistics,
  3. Examine the new studies and trends in linguistics,
  4. Discuss the basic concepts and theories within the framework of the knowledge obtained from the contemporary academic articles, books and dissertations in the area,
  5. Support their academic knowledge with new trends and perspectives in linguistics before writing their M.A. theses.
