Course objectiveLearning principles of immunohistochemistry, achieving knowledge and skill to perform immunohistochemical examination
Learning outcomes
  1. To learn basic principles of immunohistochemistry
  2. To determine the technique and detailed protocol to be used to demonstrate specific antigens on cells or tissues
  3. To evaluate and validate the findings on light microscopic immunostained samples
  4. To achieve knowledge and skill to apply immunohistochemical examinations at electron microscopic level
Course Content1. Discuss basic principles of immunohistochemistry and to determine the antibodies to be used for the research planned
2. To determine the best fixation technique according to the antigen to be demonstrated (soft tissues, blood smears, culture cells etc.)
3. Performing immunostaining both on frozen and paraffin embedded samples
4. To determine the suitable chromogen
5. To examine the immunostained techniques under microscope
6. To evaluate the reaction on sections
7. To perform Double-labeling techniques
8. To perform Pre- and post-embedding techniques at EM level
9. To perform immunogold technique
