Course objectiveThis course provides to be able to plan and apply perioperative care comprehensively, to evaluate and record the effect of the care applied, by using up-to-date information and evidence-based practices related to the basic principles and concepts in the field of surgical nursing; to be able to interpret and evaluate their knowledge by integrating it with the current information in the national or international literature; It provides the skills and competencies to know the importance of ethical principles for the individual and society and to act ethically. 
Learning outcomes
  1. 1. Knows the basic concepts and principles in surgical nursing.
  2. 2. Plan and implement the perioperative care of a surgical patient comprehensively with a holistic approach and systematic approach, using the theoretical, evidence-based, and applied knowledge at the level of expertise acquired in the field of surgical diseases nursing, evaluate and record the effect of the care applied.
  3. 3. Reaches the current information in the national or international literature in surgical nursing, interprets this information, and evaluates it with a critical approach.
  4. 4. Interprets, analyzes, and synthesizes the knowledge in the field of Surgical Diseases Nursing in order to create new information by integrating it with the current information in the national or international literature.
  5. 5. Knows and interprets ethical and legal issues in the field of surgical nursing.
Course ContentThe content of the course; historical development of surgery and surgical nursing, systematic approach and nursing, the effect of technology on surgical practices and nursing, evidence-based practices in perioperative care, care packages in nursing practice and its use in surgical nursing, homeostasis, surgical wound and nursing care, pain and nursing care, perioperative care in geriatric patients care, ethical issues in surgery and surgical nursing.
