Course objectiveThe aim of this course is to critically analyze and evaluate sports from a sociological perspective and to explore how theory has been applied to the study of sport.  
Learning outcomes
  1. At the end of this course, the student will be able to; I.Apply knowledge, concepts to a variety of sport issues, problems and interactions. II.Ä°dentify how sport shapes and is shaped by dominant ideologies and cultural values.
  2. III.Demonstrate an understanding of various forms of social inequality and their connection to sports. IV.Ä°nvestigate economical, cultural and social aspects of sport V. Apply a sociological perspective to current events in the sporting world.-
Course ContentSociological theories; sport for social changes; comparative sport cultures; violence in sports and masculinity; ethnic and racial discrimination on sport; mass media and sport.
