Course objectiveExamining the physical, psychopathological conditions due to aging and investigating occupational therapy assessment and intervention approaches by analyzing elderly's social participation, productivity and leisure activities due to the cultural diversity. 
Learning outcomes
  1. Knows aging properties, the physical and psychopathological states, due to aging
  2. Evaluates performance areas and components with occupational performance.analyzes according to occupational therapy model
  3. Analyzes social participation, productivity and leisure activities of elderly according to cultural variability; conducts research and provides information to improve the quality of occupational therapy services.
  4. Develops the person-centered occupational therapy approach, gains the life-long learning and teaching skills and attitudes .
  5. Applies person-centered activity training.
  6. Discusses the increasement in the quality of life as a result of occupational therapy approaches in national and international levels and shares information
  7. Develops specific performance analysis and training of the elderly who live at home / nursing homes and do interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies.
Course ContentAging characteristics, the normal aging process
Developing physical and psychopathological conditions related to aging
Evaluating performance components and areas using Cognitive, perceptual, balance and mobility tests, tests hand skills and activities of daily living, home safety tests etc., planning and applying appropriate treatment program
Designing specific occupational therapy programs and quality improvement
