Course objectiveThe main objective of this course is to introduce the basic terms, concepts and approaches of Turkish folk music; examine the leading and contemporary studies on Turkish folk music and analyze the meaning, functions, stuctural and performative characteristics of turkish folk music in the context of culture and folk music relationship. 
Learning outcomes
  1. List the general studies on Turkish folk music; Define the basic concepts in Turkish folk music, Explain the relation between folk music and culture; introduce the Pioneer studies in folk music; Research on the meaning and the function in folk music in the frame of a musical performance. Analyse some works of folk music in the frame of structure, perfornmance, meaning, and function
