Course objectiveto examine in detail the social boundaries of art, ensure that students understand the relationship between the arts and other social institutions to carry out a sociological analysis of the process of attaining the status of art and the artist ( in the context of the interaction between the arts and other social institutions ) 
Learning outcomes
  1. Considers art as a social institution in a sociological point of view.
  2. Dissociats the subjective and objective reference spheres of art as a norm system
  3. Evaluates the variables and processes of art's social entity domain.
  4. Discusses the differences that varied theoretical approaches focused both on art as a social system and both on the interaction of art with global social system
  5. Understands that interaction between art and other institutions has an open-ended paradoxic
  6. Discusses how the content, definitions and the limits of art alter
Course ContentSocial system models, and the basic methodological approaches and their major representatives
The interaction of art and other social institutions (religion, economics, politics and technology, etc.), social boundaries, functions, paradoxical results
The axis of the arts and social conditions in the process of social evolution (primitive folk arts, classical and romantic eras, modern art, and postmodern art) characterization of art and artists, art concept and function, aesthetic criteria
