Course objectiveIdentifying the influence of art and literature on the civillian life of people under war conditions during the period from 1878 to 1922. To show that civillians are effected from the conditions and results of war as much as militarymen. 
Learning outcomes
  1. 1. Knowing all activities of arf and literature during war period of 1877-1922.
  2. 2. Understanding the relationship between war and art and literature and using them as evidence for historical studies.
  3. 3. Reading and evaluating war time literature, i.e. novels, narratives and tragedies etc.
  4. 4. Reading and evaluating war time music, ie. poems, marches, songs, folk songs etc.
  5. 5 Identifying and evaluating war time drawings, i.e. pictures, cartoons, and sculprures etc.
Course ContentProducts of arts produced during the chains of wars from The Krimean War (1856), the Otoman-Russian War (1877-1878) through, I. World War (1914-1918), Balkan Wars (1911-1913) and National Struggle (1919-1922) are introduced: Products if literature i.e. novels, narratives and tragedies etc.; products of music i.e. poems, marches, songs, folk songs etc. an product of drawings i.e. pictures, cartoons, and sculptures. These materials are studied as symbols of reactions of civillians to war and its conditions. In other words, these materials are sudied to reconstruct the war conditions and reactions of civillians to them with the aim of beter understanding the real nature of the wars.
