Course objective1.ComprehendsTheorical framework of Turkish foreign policy and its basic principle, its application in the Atatürk Period; 2- Understands the time course of the WWII, and the Turkish foreign policy-making in relation to the emerging balance of powers; the international treaties and agreements to the Turkish foreign policy 3- Comprehends Turkey?s foreign policy-making aftermath of the WWII and during the Cold War; Turkey?s relations with regional and global actors of politics. 4- Understands Turkey?s foreign policy-making and the factors-in-concern aftermath of the Cold War.  
Learning outcomes
  1. 1- Knows the basic principles of the foreign policies of states and the theoretical framework and the basic principles of Turkish foreign policy;
  2. 2- Knows Turkish foreign policy aftermath of the Lausanne Treaty and of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey (1923-1939 Atatürk Period);
  3. 3- Understands tTurkey?s foreign policy based on balance of power aftermath of the WWII, the blocs of world politics, and their role on the Turkish foreign policy-making process;
  4. 4- Understands Turkey?s problems in the foreign policy field; the issues and the approaches to them from the end of WWII till today;
  5. 5- Understands The meaning of the Cold War; its effects on the balance of world politics and on Turkish foreign politics; Turkey?s participation to the Western Bloc;
  6. 6- Understands The changes of the global politics and regional issues caused by the Cold War and Turkey?s relations with global political actors.
  7. 7- Understands the embodiment of Turkish foreign policy aftermath of the Cold War, political developments within the conducts of governments-in-power
  8. 8- Knows Turkey?s alliances and evaluates them within the conjecture of the time
Course ContentWithin the context of the course, Turkey?s foreign policy after the Atatürk?s period is analyzed within the global developments from the WWII untill today. Basic foreign policy principles are detected and the institutional organization of the Foreign Ministry and its application process of the policies are analyzed.
