Course objectiveThe aim of this course is to inform students about the use of mythological, mythic and iconographic images that film narratives contain in order to make meaning. The discussions about the analysis of such images is also central to this course.  
Learning outcomes
  1. At the end of the course, the students will - be introduced to the basic figures of mythology and iconography.
  2. - gain the ability to recognize the elements of mythology and iconography in films.
  3. - examine contemporary approaches to cinema through interperative, symbolic and iconographic descriptions.
Course ContentIn this course, the emergence of modern iconology will be comprehended and discussed by turning back to the ancient religious and mytological iconologies, in which the contemporary iconology in cinematographic representation is rooted.
