Course objectiveThe main objective of this course is to introduce and explain the distinctive features of KaracaoÄŸlan poetry and musical tradition and its basic role and influence in shaping the Turkish oral poetry and musical tradition and to examine the continuing and changing aspects of KaracaoÄŸlan tradition in contemporary Turkish oral and musical culture.  
Learning outcomes
  1. At the end of this course student will be able to; I. Comprehend the Turkish poets with KaracaoÄŸlan pseudonym, II. Define the poems composed by the KaracaoÄŸlan pseudonym and the role within the tradition, III. Explain the distinctive characteristics of KaracaoÄŸlan poetry, IV. Examine the basic role and influence of KaracaoÄŸlan poetry in shaping the Turkish oral poetry and musical tradition,

? Determination of the folk poems written by the name of KaracaoÄŸlan
? The position and poetry of 17. Century ÇukurovaKaracaoğlan in the tradition of Karacaoğlan
? Features of KaracaoÄŸan poetry: language, expression instruments and cultural texture and regional features
? The effets of KaracaoÄŸlan on the formation of oral poetry and music tradition
? KaracaoÄŸlan songs and melody types
? To-day sense and function of tradition and art of KaracaoÄŸlan in the social and cultural context.
? Change and continuity of KaracaoÄŸlan tradition in the actual and musical culture.
