Course objectiveThe main aim of the course is to provide the students with a general overview of the basic themes and issues of the European military history from an interdisciplinary perspective enabling them to understand the political, social, economic and intellectual façades of the subject. 
Learning outcomes
  1. By the end of this course the student, becomes able to make judgements on the methodology and terminology of military history.
  2. analyses the events and phenemenons of European military history with its social, economic, intellectual façades and by interdisciplinary perspective.
  3. has knowledge on the different approachs in military history literature.
  4. Uses the primary sources of military history.
  5. makes connections between transformations in the military organization with the changes in socio-economic and socio-politic sphere.
Course ContentThis course will discuss the technical and tactical transformation in the European armies from the Hundered Year Wars (1453) to the end of the Revolutionary Wars (1815). The transition in the European military organizations and warfare are the main subjects of the course. The impact of the military transformation on the state organization and people will be analysesd with the political, economic and intellectual changes of the period.
