Course objectiveThis course aims to provide students with the main arguments in relation to women?s human rights; to teach students about international and European Union regulations, national regulations, expert committee opinions and court decisions on the subject; to equip students with the information that they would need to be able to handle contemporary gender problems from a wide and critical perspective. 
Learning outcomes
  1. At the end of this course, students are expected to; Learn and link with each other the fundamental concepts of women?s human rights (1,3,5),
  2. Analyse and compare the international regulations, European Union regulations, national regulations, expert committee opinions and court decisions on the subject (1,2,3,4),
  3. Analyse and compare problematic areas in international law, European Union law and Turkish law (5,8),
  4. Analyse the harmonization problems of Turkish law with international and European Union law (5,8),
  5. Suggest the changes that should be made in Turkish law in order to comply with international and European Union law (7,8,10,12).
Course ContentIn this course the following topics will be discussed:
-The historical development of women?s human rights in International, European Union and national law
-Women?s human rights, gender, gender equality, sex equality, positive discrimination, positive measures, non-discrimination concepts
-Women in international law (United Nations, Council of Europe, International Labour Organisation documents)
-Women in European Union Law
-In Turkish Law: Women in Pre-Republic and Republic Period law, Women in Constitutional Law, Women in Civil Law and Civil Procedure Law, Women in Private International Law, Women in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law, Women in Medical Law, Women in Finance Law, Women in Administrative Law, Women in Labour and Social Security Law
