The students who provide the requirements below and pass the written and oral exam will be accepted to Health Communication Master's Program in Graduate School of Social Sciences at Hacettepe University.Â
In order to complete the Health Communication Master's Program, the students are required to take 4 compulsory, 3 elective and 1 seminar and to submit and defend a successful master's thesis. A minimum of 120 ECTS is required at the end of these studies in order to graduate.
The recognition of prior learning in Health Communication Master?s Program at Hacettepe University requires to have equivalent courses in another graduate program either at Hacettepe University or another higher education institution being enrolled and recognition of the credits held within the transfer process between the programs.Â

The aim of the Hacettepe University Health Communication Masters Program is to have graduates who
a. is competent to use and evaluate the basic concepts, interrelations between the concepts, approaches and theories in the field of health, communication and health communication on a theoretical and practical basis;
b. has the knowledge and capability of conducting activities in the field of health communication;
c. has the knowledge of both interpersonal and media dimension of health communication and apply this knowledge to her/his studies; has the knowledge of methodological approaches, methods and research techniques in the field of health communication and the competency and skill to apply and evaluate this knowledge.
d. designs and conducts researches through using qualitative and quantitative research techniques, evaluates the results of the researches and writes academic articles;
e. discusses the arising problems with scientific and current knowledge in relation to health communication and proposes solutions to them;Â
f. acts according to the academic and professional ethical principles to the individuals from different ethnicities, sexes and cultures;
g. follows current developments, approaches and resources in the field of health communication, evaluates them with a critical and questioning attitude, participates in relevant discussions, and produces novel knowledge in this regard,
h. adopts an interdisciplinary perspective in relation to her/his study field, question, interpret and evaluate them with this perspective.
The graduates completing this program can be employed in human resources unit where interaction with patient and patient's relative take place, patient rights unit and chief at quality management department at the institutions providing health service particularly at different ministries such as Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Service. In addition they can be employed at organizations and agencies promoting materials and services connected to health and they can serve as a researcher in researches of health and specialize at health bureaucracy.Â

It is mandatory for students, who are accepted to Health Communication Master's Program at Hacettepe University, to take the compulsory courses of Health Communication, Research Methods and Ethics in Health Communication, Health Promotion and Health Communication Research Seminar and also to submit and defend a successful master's thesis. Other courses in the program are elective. In this program, 1 ECTS credit is equal to 30 hours of workload.
The assessment and evaluation methods for each course are defined in the "Curriculum" in the information package prepared by the course instructor(s). For exams and grading, the relevant articles of the Hacettepe University Regulations on Graduate Education and Examination shall prevail.
