D.1. General Information about Program

Back

Hacettepe University, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Division of Polymer Science and Technology (HU-PBT) were established on June 19, 2014 by the decision in the General Meeting of Turkish Council of High Education. In the same meeting, the opening up of Master's degree program (MSc) with thesis and PhD programs were deemed appropriate in the Division of Polymer Science and Technology.

MSc in Polymer Science and Technology with thesis and PhD in Polymer Science and Technology programs began to education, teaching and training in 2014 -2015 Spring semester.

The priority objectives of the Polymer Science and Technology Division are to increase the level and quality of the studies carried out in the area of polymer science in an interdisciplinary approach, to bring our country to a leading position and to increase its competitiveness, to train and establish young and experienced individuals with high degree of knowledge in this scientific area with the supports of departments of Science, Engineering and Health Sciences and a strong academic staff and scientific background of Hacettepe University.

The main objective of the PhD program in the Polymer Science and Technology is to train scientists, specialists and engineers that are needed increasingly with each passing day in the polymer science and technology by the academia and industry.

The first three semesters of PhD program is scheduled for compulsory and elective courses while the fourth semester is scheduled for the preparation of the proficiency for doctorate examination and last four semesters are devoted to experimental studies of PhD thesis. Students take courses related to the area of ??their choice during the graduate studies and perform their thesis work under the guidance of a faculty member.
