?Epidemiology? MSc Program, as one of the degree programs of Hacettepe University Institute of Public Health, was conducted under the programs of Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences from 1988 with 13 graduates so far. After the rule of High Education Board on 23.05.2012, the program has been conducted by the Department of Epidemiology established within the construction of the Institute of Public Health.
The main goal of the Epidemiology MSc Program is to raise its graduates full of knowledge and ability related to epidemiological methods and its field and clinical applications, and take place within the activities to increase the level of health and quality of life of the population.
After graduation, candidates have the opportunity to apply to the PhD program. Foreign students also have the opportunity to apply for the MSc Program.
Currently, the MSc and PhD Programs of the Institute of Public Health are affiliated administratively to the Institute of Health Sciences.
The duration of the Epidemiology MSc Program is two years (four semesters). The first year (two semesters) consists of required and elective courses, whereas the second year consists of the thesis work. The medium of instruction is Turkish

The Program accepts graduates of medical faculty and other health related faculties as well as the graduates of the health related departments of science, engineering or social sciences faculties.
The student candidates need to fulfill the requirements specified in the Bylaw of Hacettepe University on Postgraduate Studies and Examinations.

 In order to qualify for the ?Epidemiology? MSc Degree, the students need to earn at least 120 ECTS/ 21 national credits, and to complete a thesis work.
During the course period, the students need to successfully complete courses (including the seminar course without any national credits) to earn at least 21 national credits (60 ECTS). At the end of the second semester, the students, who fulfill these criteria with an average academic score of at least 2.75, are allowed to submit their thesis proposal.
After completion of the thesis work, the candidate defends his/her thesis before a jury and complete the MSc Program if he/she is successful in knowledge, interpretation, and synthesis parts of the thesis defence. In the thesis period (two semesters), the student earns 60 ECTS.
 Students are allowed for lateral transfer, and credit transfer between programs according to the Bylaw of Hacettepe University on Post-Graduate Studies and Examinations.
 The general aim of the ?Epidemiology? MSc Program, is to provide program graduates with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively use the principles and methods of epidemiology and, plan and implement the proper scientific studies in the related areas.Â
 Graduates of this Program have the opportunity to work in different departments of the Ministry of Health and affiliated institutions (e.g. Public Health Agency of Turkey), as well as the provincial public health directorates, community health centers (TSM), the epidemiology related sections of the other public services, academic institutions, private sector, non-governmental organizations, and international institutions

 The duration of this MSc Program is 4 semesters. Students should complete the compulsory courses in the first two semesters. The Program consists of at least 120 ECTS credits (21 national credits), composed of two semesters of course work (30 ECTS credits per semester), and two semesters of thesis work (30 ECTS credits per semester). Students may select other courses available in the postgraduate programs of Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences and/or the Institute of Social Sciences with the approval of their consultant. The prerequisites of the elective courses placed in the course descriptions.Â
 Evaluation and assessment methods for each course are described in the course info packs prepared by each instructor. For the examinations and pass grades, respective articles of the Bylaw of Hacettepe University on Post-Graduate Studies and Examinations shall be applied.
 To successfully complete the ?Epidemiology? MSc Program, the students are subject to the Bylaw of Hacettepe University on Postgraduate Studies and Examinations.
