POSTMORTEM MORPHOLOGIC INVESTIGATIONS (NON THESIS)
Second Cycle Programmes
(Master's Degree)

D.1. General Information about Program

Back

Postmortem studies are becoming a more reliable and open field with a multidisciplinary approach. For this reason, it is aimed to establish a wide multidisciplinary structure with both basic medical sciences and clinical medical sciences branches, and to reveal many information that will guide those who emerge after death and live. Multidisciplinary studies on morphological and cellular changes occurring in the postmortem period in medical science, and pathological, molecular and radiological examinations performed after the death of cases with known diagnoses contribute to the elucidation of physiopathologies.

It is obvious that the researcher identity of our university will also contribute to improving the quality and quantity of its infrastructure. Thanks to the increase in scientific research projects planned to be realized, it will also contribute to the improvement of physical conditions and increase the number of scientific research projects by conducive to the establishment of necessary equipment and laboratory environments. With the addition of a graduate program to our university, it will be an important step in the development of multidisciplinary study opportunities by contributing to the quality improvement of education quality. With this step, which enables the expansion of our working conditions, there will be a serious acceleration in our scientific research and production activities.

The mission of Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences Postmortem Morphological Investigations Non-Thesis Master's program is to have a multidisciplinary basic knowledge on postmortem sciences, to turn this knowledge into service with the applications of microscopic examination of postmortem tissue, to communicate well with the team members, to be a researcher and to be a "good" qualified person who observes ethical values. and to train competent, academically empowered physicians, to contribute to the universal knowledge through research. In order to carry out studies at both physiopathological, macroscopic, microscopic and molecular levels and to enrich the knowledge in these fields, it is aimed to open non-thesis master's programs on current postmortem study areas within the department. The absence of a specialized training program in the field of postmortem examinations in our country makes it difficult to conduct multidisciplinary scientific studies that will contribute to the literature. A large part of postmortem studies in the world are carried out in forensic science institutes and neuroscience and neuropathology programs. It will accelerate the execution of multi-disciplinary postmortem studies, thanks to the non-thesis master's degree in the first term, and the thesis master's and doctorate programs in the following period to be opened under the Postmortem Department. It will pave the way for educating a doctor of science who has basic and current theoretical knowledge in the field of postmortem examinations, is interested in new information flow, has gained skills, attitudes and experience in all laboratory methods used in the field of science, can plan and carry out independent research, has gained educational experience, has organizational skills and ethical values.

The strategic vision of the Hacettepe University Institute of Health Sciences Postmortem Morphologic Investigations Non-Thesis Master's program is to be the first program to provide specialized training at the national level, and to maintain its leadership throughout the country with the research it will contribute, within the framework of the training provided in the fields of Forensic Medicine, Histology, Anatomy and Medical Pathology. The aim is to meet the need of postmortem examinations, which are not included in the study, and to ensure that postmortem studies, especially histopathology, have a wider place in Forensic Medicine education and practices in our country.
