D.1. General Information about Program

Information Technology in Education Masters Program, offered by Institute of Informatics, is desigened as a one year and half (3 semesters) program without thesis.

Meeting the requirement of human resource qualified in the field of instructional technologies and distance education; training academic personnel for the undergraduate programs of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Department opened by The Council of Higher Education; training specialist in the fields of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies for the public or private sector and making research and publications for the scientific development of this field could be ranked among the main purposes of graduate program. The basic research topics of this program are; e-learning, diffusion and integration of information and communication technologies into education, constructivist instructional design and assessment models, educational computer games, online learning, technology policies, multimedia design, usability and human computer interaction, cognitive processes and reflection to e-learning environments.

D.4. Provisions for Registration

Requitrements written in the directive for the Hacettepe University Institue of Informatics the Secondary Master's Non-Thesis Program must be satisfied. Applicants who are high level computer users and/or have at least 2 years benefit experience from the field of information Technologies at the job environment will be preferred. Each candidate's computer literacy will be tested and admission will be decided considering the test.

There is any department limitation to apply for this graduate program. For the students who completed their undergraduate education in an another department or in another higher education institute out of university, a maximum two semester scientific preparation can be offered with the decision of administrative board of institute based on the suggestion of interview committee and opinion of head of department.

Prerequisite courses are listed below. These prerequisite courses have been in the extent of academic preparation courses and do not incorporate in the graduation credits.

The duration of Information Technology in Education Master's Non-Thesis Program is one year and half (3 semesters). Principals of non-thesis master program, stated in the sixth item ofHacettepe University Education Examination Regulation of Graduate Degree, are implemented to students who exceed time limit. Information Technology in Education Non-Thesis Masters Program consists minimum 10 courses and a senior project course providing not less than 30 credits. Total ECTS which must be taken by students are shown in the table distributed by the semetesters.

D.6. Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning

It is possible to transition from graduate programs in the university or other higher education institutions to the doctoral program of the department. The necessary conditions are stated in the regulations of Hacettepe University Graduate Education and examination. In addition, studying at a higher education institution under graduate or graduate education or who want to improve their skills by completing a specific subject knowledge and practice may attend the classes as a special student with the approval o the board of directors, the course manager.

D.7. Goals and Objectives

In recent years, Teaching/Learning Technologies became more important with the development of multi-media technologies and web technologies. In addition, Turkey has identified a large target for the implementation of computer and internet-based education in primary and secondary schools. On the other hand, Higher Education Council has one of the most important steps about Internet-based education regulation for universities in this regard. The private sector in education falls into a great investment for content delivery and display such content in computer and internet environments.

Increasing to need the importance for trained man power in the field of Instructional Technology and Distance Education either various countries around the world or Turkey. The Information Technology in Education Master's program aims to the use and develop computer-based technologies in teaching-learning processes, conduct scientific study on distance education, develop products, and train the required manpower.

D.12. Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Master's degree graduates work as a comptetent information technology expert in the field of education at public or private sector. While they can work in private sector, they can also find employment in a variety distance education institutions as an e-learning expert. In addition, they can be employed in positions such as assistant specialist or expert in such as the TRT, TUBITAK institutions and organizations.
